Why hello there!

As you (should) know, I hardly use this journal anymore. Ye see, in my daily comic hollycomics I add lots of autobiographical comics. They are more interesting to read than these boring stories I type here.

Consider it a "normal" livejournal but without as much text and more pictures ;)

If ye would have read it (this doesn't go for those who did!) ye would've known that i've moved to my own houssie! (And it RULES!) And also that I work at an awesome advertising agency now, usually I make a somewhat uninteresting flyer for the local newspaper, but sometimes I get really cool assignments which require drawing and sketching. Those are my faves :)

HOWEVERRRR, on my comic livejournal I can't do any meme's, so... here, have a meme.

4 movies you can always watch:
- Billy Eliott
- Disney animations (I can't choose! But mainly Mulan and the Lion King ;)
- Harry Potter
- Lord of the Rings

4 towns you lived in:
- Zwaag
- Blokker
- Hoorn Kersenboogerd
- Oosterblokker

4 shows you like to watch:
- M*A*S*H
- Ugly Betty
- 'allo, 'allo!
- You Rang, M'Lord?

4 websites you visit daily:
- LiveJournal
- Hotmail
- Psypets
- nu.nl / telegraaf.nl (news sites)

4 favorite foods:
- Pasta! (Like penne, tortellini and spaghetti :)
- Poffertjes
- Meat (Bbq... mmmm... Though I refuse to eat baby-beasties like lamb and calf)
- Anything with sour cream

4 places you'd like to be now:
- At home with my cat, curled up in beddie.
- With my friends Niche and/or Steve
- At the annual Expreszo (Improv) weekend
- In an empty, warm swimmingpool, just for meeeee!

Btw, I stole this from Niche and i'm not tagging anyone ;) If you wanna do it, do it!

è! in peace, Poedersuiker

She è'd most loudly and sometimes managed 6 è!'s in a row! The other birds got very jealous and bullied her like mad.

A woman came and purchased her. A day later she brought Poedersuiker back because the birds in her aviary also bullied Poedersuiker up to a point where she'd just sit in a corner and sulk.

I felt sorry for the little dame and brought her home. I purchased her a mate, Pepper.

(He's on the right, he always has his beak open on pictures.)
Unfortunately Pepper plucked her often and even their kids weren't safe for his pluckiness. After moving Pepper to someone else's aviary, Poedersuiker was alone once more.

Then a miracle happened! When I came to work I saw, sulking in a corner, a little male zebrafinch who had been attacked and pullied to a point where he was bald, shaking and even bleeding. Plukkie, as he was named, and Poedersuiker became a lovely couple and he stayed at her side till her tragic heartattack next to the foodbowl.

Many a'fond memory are linked to this bird, for she'd sometimes è! in her sleep at four a.m.

A less fond memory though is that sometimes when she had nightmares, she'd jump out of her nest and fly wildly around the cage, smacking in to the sides, even long after I had turned the lights on for her.

She had four lovely kids, a white one, two grey/white ones and a grey one. They found a new home.

Poedersuiker died of natural causes at an unknown age.

Crap! I have some very important thingies to print (job applications and whatnot) and my printer's being a bitch. Can anyone help me?

tis a HP Deskjet 970Cxi, and the ink-lampie is blinking. There's enough ink in the cartridges, I cleaned them a bit as instructed on the HPtroubleshootingpage, so I have no idea what's wrong.

It had the same problem yesterday but after a while it just went away for some silly reason, and I could print again after a few minutes. I hope the same will happen now cause I gotta send these letters out today.

Oh well.. if you think you know what's up, let me know :)

Since i've posted very little this year (mainly because I think posting to HollyComics is ENOUGH... After that I hardly feel like updating this one as well anymore I admit...) I decided to post this 2006-overview Meme. As seen on Niche's lj.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?

Went traveling abroad all on my own.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

New years resolutions are meant to be broken! But nah, I don't do New Years resolutions. They suck.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Not yet, but i'm waiting for a birth-cardsie I designed to be chucked down our mailbox from a friend/client in January. :D

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Not this year.

5. What countries did you visit?

England and Czech Republic.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?

A fun job and a girlfriend.

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

London in the summertime :) And christmas at the Preston Palace (some kind of all-in hotel) where we stayed this year for my parent's 12,5 year anniversary.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

That I made it to London and back in one piece on my own, and that I told loads of birthday calendars. Oh! And that I got to do a test assignment for the children's magazine Bobo and that they will actually use my drawings!

9. What was your biggest failure?

My job.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Just the regular. Crazy heartbeats, bronchitis, Parrot-disease.. ;D

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My 12-string. *Hugs!* Such a pretty guitar! I like it even better then my new camera. :)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Niche, who despite of her bi-atching about everything (mainly work) achieved SO much this year. And stepdad Fred, who has to do two hard jobs at the same time and has really long days. In january or february one of the jobs will stop though and he will have more time for himself/us ;)

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

My boss and my dad, but i'm sure I don't need to explain why ;D

14. Where did most of your money go?

Traveling I think. Two countries in one year... And I also made some expensive purchases like a new camera and my 12-string, they weren't cheap either :S

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

*Thinks* The birth of my dwarfiebabyparrotthing Yubi, who's growing big, fat, and cuddly.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?

Love you more by Raccoon and Dimming of the day, David Gilmour's version. Because I have to play them to my fam'ly every friday night. *Rubs fingers* I'm still not entirely used to that new 12-string though, ouchie...

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) happier or sadder?
Sadder

b) thinner or fatter?
Fatter

c) richer or poorer?
Beats me, I never check how much money I have...

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Being with my friends.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Sitting on my ass, playing WoW. (I LOVE WoW, don't get me wrong, but it's way too addicting.)

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

We already spent it, in the Preston Palace all-in hotel where you can feed, drink and play games at will! We swam, we got drunk (I tried but couldn't), we bowled, and we pigged-in till we couldn't eat any more.

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?

No new crushes developed this year.

22. How many one-night stands?

None. (Unfortunately ;)

23. What was your favorite TV program?

The L-word. *Cough* At least I have the balls to admit it. ;D

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Hate is a big word. I can say that I built up a certain dislike for some people, yeah. Mainly my boss (though he tries SO hard to be liked nowadays) and a certain colleague.

25. What was the best book you read?

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett :) Oh, and Harry Potter and the half-blood prince was pretty good too though (like Niche) I cannot remember if that was this year or last year.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Hmm... I guess Barry, my friend in our local Theater Groupsie which I am part of. I didn't know he could sing that well :)

27. What did you want and get?

If you want something, you gotta get it yourself. Which is why I treated myself to my 12-string.

28. What did you want and not get?

A girlfriend and a nice job. Mainly a girlfriend, that is what i'd like more then anything.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?

Disney's Oliver & Co which I had never seen before. Good music man!

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I turned 24 and went to the funfair with Da Nichah.

31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

This answer keeps repeating its self, doesn't it? A girlfriend and a nice job.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?

I spent most of the year in three fashion styles. The most frequently worn are my working clothes. (Sloppy, big pants with a lot of pockets and a red shirt with BOS on it). Then comes my pj's (wide pants and a random t-shirt) and then my "Damn, i've got to go socialize" outfit. (Blue jeans, random warm wooly sweater.)

33. What kept you sane?

I'm ready for the nuthouse actually. ;)

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Well, I really like Shane of the L-word, and the girl that plays Susan Bones in Hogfather.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

That the Dutch political figures actually debate about Madonna adopting a kid from far-away-istan. What the fuck? Really, are we paying them for this?

36. Who did you miss?

Nina and Steve. Not Niche because she sucks. (Nah ;) I just speak to her regularly :)

37. Who was the best new person you met?

Michelle and Richard from Nottingham. And their pet Snail. *Shudder*

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:

People suck. If you agree, get (more) pets.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

"Juliet aha, where the fuck you are. Juliet oohoo, where the fuck are you." (Red Elvises. ;D)

So! It's been AGES eh? I just haven't felt like updating this lj lately.

My youth hostel was horrible, it was like a jail cell o_O Small, smelly, and in the night slamming doors and screeching drunk women. I was lucky to have the only single room in the place to I could put my bed against the door at night...

But that stupid place aside, it was very nice! I visited lots of museums and walked till my feet started to complain. On the last day when I was travelling home, I could hardly walk to the gate in the airport. Baaaad muscle-aches in my butt and legs from all that walking hehehe!

I also met some wonderful people who I know from World of Warcraft, here they are:

I had never seen Majera before, so we decided to meet at Charing Cross underneath the big clock, holding a sign with eachothers nicknames. He forgot his sign. So here's a piccie of him holding up the sign I made in the middle of Trafalgar square. ;)
We had a great evening, we dined and after that we danced in the streets of London. Mainly World of Warcraft dances which he knows by head ;)

http://www.michaelhulmes.co.uk/ <-- the guy on the left is Kap, but he's really Michael Hulmes. One of the most brilliant acoustic guitar players i've ever laid my ears on.
The other two are the fantastic Michelle (Daddysgirl) and Richard (Bigbadboo). Incredibly kind people who took me to their home in Nottingham where I could sleep in a _proper_ bed for a chance! And she has a pet snail.

We went to Sherwood forest where I met up with a couple of other "Guildies"! If you care about the names then try to decipher my handwriting. (Though I mispelled Ami's name)
We purchased wooden weapons and started to play real-life World Of Warcraft in Robin Hood's forest ;)

And then they left me there, with my little hat on, while they all had a lovely sunday dinner. ;) (Actually i'm the one that took the pic so no worries there.)

And now my sister and I are going to Prague next week ;) Knowing me you probably won't hear about how that went till christmas LOL! Oh well :)

Yes that is right, the place that kicked me out half a year too early, because my boss did not check WHEN my contract ends. (We thought it would be the end of july but it turns out to be in January. And now I have basically wasted all my vacation-days.)

Technical question, I think Kees may know the answer to this one cause he is familiar with Opera: A while ago my compy (or my Opera, beats me) decided to forget what Cookies are for. Now I have to log in to Hotmail, photobucket and livejournal every morning. How come it does not remember my usernames and passwords anymore? o_O

So like I said, I have no time to update about my London adventure yet *sigh*...
Two years ago I started working at gardencenter Bos. Half a year later they lengthened my contract for 1 and a half more years. Or so I thought... Just now my boss called me on the phone saying i've "quit" half a year too early. o_O

We both thought my contract was at an end. He told me (after I asked him) that it would not be lengthened. So I signed up to the CWI (Center for Work and Income) telling them I was going to be jobless. They will help me find a new job and make sure I get payed a little while i'm searching for it.

So basically my boss says that I got two half-year contracts, and THEN my one-and-a-half-year one. Meaning it looks like i've quit voluntarily. Meaning I don't have the right to any money from the CWI. He also admits he should have double checked the duration of my contract before "letting me go". I have looked everywhere but I really don't have any papers in my house that prove all this, but he says _he_ has them.

This is all very complicated, I don't even know how to explain it all to you guys :( And what sucks ass is that I can't ask parental advice because I have NO clue where the Hell they are this time! And mum's damn mobile phone keeps ringing too. *Snarl* If she actually carried it with her, I might have been able to contact her.

How annoying!

Your life is always full of changes.

You will avoid being alone and seek the company of others whenever possible. You love excitement and create it wherever you go. You have a strong personality and you like to command, influence and control people.

You added a flower into your drawing. The flower signifies that you long for love. We also see that you are sensuous, sexual, and privately passionate. You don't think much about yourself.

Last weekend mum and I went to the Arrow Classic Rock Festival. When we arrived there it was very hot, and not a bit of shade around! When I woke up that morning I was not feeling well, but that only made it worse.

When the sun went down we flopped down somewhere, and four guys from Friesland offered us drinks and called us "sisters" and flirted their hearts out. *Snort!* But nah, you know me ;) I am not interested in that kind of thing. They were kind and funny though, and we had a good talk.

When Roger and the band took a break I got worse though, felt like I could hardly breathe and mum had to pull me out of the crowd. She insisted I drank a coke (I was way too nauseous but complied anyway) and I forced a jam pancake down my throat. And suddenly I felt a lot better! Mum said I needed sugar and I think she was right. *nod*

The second half of the show was fantastic, (even though I liked Roger's songs of the first part better, the second half was "just" Dark Side of the Moon) I danced and sang and had a great time, and also I had a great view. There were very big screens around.

He came back after the applause to treat us with some more goodies from The Wall and I just KNEW he'd save Comfortably Numb for last. So I told mum while the song played: "Mum, next up is a guitarsolo of approximately 7 minutes. Let's go to the car."

And so we left and checked the fireworks out from the exit where we could still see everything well :) Then we hurried off, and we were one of the first to leave the grounds. We went to a hotelsie and I think mum slept really well, but I simply can't sleep when someone snores! *Snicker*

And that was my Roger Waters tale. Also, we are building a new aviary outside :) It looks awesome so far hehehe! For those interested, I will take pics when it is done. ;) And that's all I have to say right now. *nod*

I refuse to speak of work, where two hamsters died because _someone_ hung their waterbottles too high up and thus they could not reach them and dried out. I will not mention that we're having a heatwave and that the beasties were in a small cage without water all bloody sunday. Nope, you won't hear me mentioning it.

See ya.

Want to hear an amazing story? Alright! But first a tiny introduction.

I went to the Haarlemse Stripdagen, it's like some kind of cartoon-fair. I went there to sell some home-made cards, calendars, and of course to go autograph hunting. I also met up with Leo there, it was nice to see him again :) 's been a while!

*FLASHBACKKKKKKKK*
*Timmy the Talking Timemachine takes us back to the time where Holly discovered her family tree booksie. In it she found another Larissa Böhm. (Holly's real name) She was born in Canada in 1994. Holly grabbed the phone and looked up the numbers of all the Böhm people in Toronto. She did not find her name-mate and gave up, deciding to continue the search later on when the kiddo reached an age where she'd discover the internet.*
*FLASHFRONTTTTTT*

Back to the cartoon-fair. I was munchin' a sandwichie when I hear a woman say, in Dutch, "Ha! Look at this Larissa, you have the same name!"

Me: "Heh, Larissa?"
She: "Larissa Böhm."
*Holly nearly chokes on her sandwich*
Me: "Larissa Böhm, born 1994, Canada?"
She: "How.. did you know?"
Me, to silent girl with identical brown eyes: "I've been looking for you for years!!"

I hope I didn't freak her out cause she was not very talkative hehehe :) But luckily I won't have to search again, she added me to her msn. I wonder what else we have in common! :)

Well! That was the weird story of the day! Two Larissa Böhm's in the whole damn world, and we meet in a town I never go to, to a fair i've never been to before, right when I _happened_ to sit in my own booth. ;)

How's that for awesome eh?

Of Cabaret and Animal cruelty.

First the happy stuff, my sisters and I went to Cabaret last weekend. It was very nice, they turned Carré in to the Kit Kat Klub. There were tablesies, red lampies, and waiters that hopped on your lap saying: "What would you like to drink, darling?" Hehe!

The show was awesome as well, nothing can top Pia Douwes. Mind you, she was a lot stronger in the musical Elizabeth. See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU7uGUfLeik

We see Sissi, (Elizabeth, empress of Austria) happily prancing around with hur husband the emperor, however she has a secret lovah! Death! Yepyep, the guy in the red coat. She keeps rejecting him, even when times get really hard. (Her son shoots himself for instance, and The People get rebelious, and Liz has a terrible mother in law who snatches her kids and whatnot.) In the end of the musical she gets stabbed to death by the way, you don't see it in the clip, and Death wins after all.

And now for the next, sad topic. I went to work, looked under the desk of the pet department and what do I see? A small cardboard box. Upon opening it I discover a dead bunny, covered in flies and his own shit. Also there was a bowl of fungus (which used to be food with medicine in) and a dirty empy bowl that probably contained water. Also in the tiny box, there was another bunny. Still alive, covered in shit, and licking the fungus. I agree with Niche when she said: "Normally I don't give a rat's ass about bunnies but this story broke my heart." I have the same thing, and cried my eyes out.

I hurried to get a bucket of water and dumped the living bunny in it. After cleaning it up, I shouted and called my colleague (who had done it) names, and he shouted back. His story then was that it was very busy the day before, and that he had to put the sick bunnies away for a bit so that customers would not see. He also said that the box did not look like that yesterday and that the bunny did that itsself. (I _flipped._)

I realised then that I would not be able to work with him anymore, so I asked for a Talk in the office between assistant-boss, colleague and myself. There he was a lot calmer. He even smiled a bit, wondering what the big deal was. In the office his story was different from before. He kind of apologised (not as in "I'm sorry" but more as in "Yeah I should've checked on the bunny before I went home" but he forgot, and the bunny was in there all bloody night with a corpse.) and that was that...

And that was that. I will keep my thoughts to myself.. But most of you probably know what i'm thinking about doing.

And i'd like to start with a big sorry for all my lj-friends, especially my sistah Niche. For a long time now I couldn't be bothered to check my friendslist. I got up, updated hollycomics, went to work, came back, went to bed. Most of the time I did not even play WoW!

And on the days I did not go to work, I caught up on drawing my comics and WoW, still neglecting my livejournal friends. If i've missed anything important (like Niche having her wisdomteeth pulled out) then please let me know :)

Now then, about the weekend! I've been away with the Theatersport guys (Improv). We went to a bungalow in Friesland and played Clue. Baron van Zanten was murdered and we were all suspects. I was Ans and I used to be the nanny of his kids. Then the baron got me pregnant and kicked me out, that would have been my motive to kill him. Everybody had a terrible alibi and a motive to have killed him, so when it finally came out that it was his dumb blonde secretary (who had the same thing done to her as I had all those years ago) killed him with rat poison in his whiskey, we all clapped for her and said "Good riddance!"

We partied a lot till about 3 a.m, we went for walks in the woods, sang, talked, improvised some sketches, all in all I had a great time! The only downside was that my bunky snored really loud. I spent the next night in the bathroom ;) (Mind you, that was a calm and blissful night with sweet dreams ;D)

For _all_ the pics, you can browse through these files: http://www.expreszohoorn.nl/friesland2006/

This is Anne, huffing and puffing to blow up the airbed I was going to sleep on the second night.

What do you think Mirjam, is it going to rain?

Sing Holly, Sing while you still have a voice!!
